Rex Heuermann’s Daughter Dismissed From Long Island Jury

Victoria Heuermann, daughter of convicted Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann, was dismissed from jury selection for a child molestation trial in Nassau County during the week before November 3. The judge decided she could become a distraction during the proceedings, her attorney said.

The 30-year-old was asked during public jury screening whether she had been convicted of a crime or knew someone who had. When her father’s identity came up, she requested to speak with the judge privately and was questioned in chambers about whether she could remain impartial.

Her attorney, Robert Macedonio, said she was willing to serve and answered honestly that she believed she could be fair to both sides. He said he had offered to write a letter asking the court to excuse her because she was nervous about returning to a courtroom after her father’s case, but she declined.

Heuermann pleaded guilty to killing eight women and was sentenced in June to three life terms in prison. His daughter had attended proceedings in his case and spoken publicly about its impact on her family. Macedonio said the crimes and her father’s notoriety would continue to affect her in everyday situations, including job interviews.
