Pierce Brosnan Praises Callum Turner as a James Bond Contender
Pierce Brosnan said he could imagine Callum Turner playing James Bond, praising the actor’s screen presence and strength. Brosnan, who portrayed 007 in four films from 1995 to 2002, said he was now watching the selection as an audience member and admired the actors being considered for the role.
Brosnan worked with Turner on a 2017 movie about a young man living in New York. He also spoke warmly of the other contenders, saying he wished whoever was chosen well and looked forward to the announcement. Jack Lowden is another name in the mix; Josh O’Connor and Jacob Elordi have also been mentioned as possible candidates.
Lowden’s Slow Horses co-star Gary Oldman has said he believes Lowden has been selected, though the choice has not been announced. Lowden called the speculation flattering but said he did not want to add to it. Turner, Lowden and an unnamed actor were reported to have taken part in final screen tests at Bray Studios in Berkshire last month.
Brosnan also praised Denis Villeneuve, who is directing the next Bond film, saying he expected audiences to be impressed by the director’s visual style and storytelling. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are leading production and franchise management for Amazon MGM Studios. Casting by the end of the year would allow filming to begin in 2027.
