Man Found Dead With Burns and Head Injuries in Portage Park

Chicago police are investigating after a man was found dead early November 3 near 5300 West Irving Park Road in Portage Park on the Northwest Side. Officers responded at about 12:10 a.m., near a car dealership.

He had burns across his body, along with trauma to his head, and was declared dead at the scene. Police have not released his identity.

A nearby resident saw a fire and called 911, and officers found the man’s body outside behind the dealership, according to one account. Another described the man as having been beaten and burned. Police have not provided details about the circumstances leading to his death.

No one had been arrested. Area Five detectives are investigating, and no further information was immediately available.
