Tosi’s 26-point night leads Utah State past Idaho State

Utah State pulled away in the second half to defeat Idaho State 94-58 on November 2, giving head coach Ben Jacobson a victory in his first game with the Aggies. The home team led 37-29 at halftime before outscoring the Bengals by 28 points after the break.

Kingston Tosi led all scorers with 26 points in his Utah State debut, adding five rebounds and three steals. He scored 18 points in the second half. Will Hornseth had 16 points and six rebounds, while Solomon Callaghan scored 14.

The Aggies widened the gap despite missing forward Connor Turnbull, who was on crutches with a supportive boot after hurting his right foot in practice. Jacobson said he hoped Turnbull would be out for two to three weeks, though he was unsure of the recovery timeline. Guard Mason Falslev also had limited playing time because of foul trouble and fouled out with nine points and nine rebounds.

Utah State made 70.6% of its shots after halftime and finished with 26 assists on 36 made baskets. The team also turned a three-rebound halftime edge into a 48-25 advantage by the end. Jacobson praised the team’s defense and second-half rebounding.

MaCarhy Morris led Idaho State with 15 points and five assists. Kenyon DeMuynck contributed 14 points, while the Bengals shot 35.1% overall and made three of 25 attempts from three-point range. The Aggies welcome Omaha on Saturday, and Idaho State travels to Wyoming on Friday.
