Joe Mixon Flew on Learjet Weeks Before Fatal Florida Crash
Mixon said he was deeply affected by the November 1 crash, after learning that he had flown on the Learjet 60 with its two pilots the previous month. In a post on X, he praised the pilots and expressed sympathy for the victims’ families. One of the pilots was 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras; the other was Jeff Gregory, 55.
The pilots, entrepreneur Adam Robinson of Texas’s tech sector, spouse Helen Sharp, and their young son and daughter were among the dead. Also killed were the family’s friends, Charmi Fehr and Rachael Reed, as well as nanny Anita Maria Cetina. The plane was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed in a Palm Beach County neighborhood.
The National Transportation Safety Board said the aircraft appeared to have started breaking apart before impact and that investigators were examining the weather. The pilots had requested a climb to get above storm conditions and reported turbulence and icing. The jet then descended rapidly and struck the ground, scattering debris across the area.
Filgueiras earned her private pilot’s license at 17 and had been working as a commercial pilot. Investigators are examining what led to the crash; they have not determined whether the aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder was present or survived.
