Kravitz Was Not Aboard Florida Learjet That Killed Nine
A viral social media claim falsely linked Lenny Kravitz to a Learjet that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1. The plane was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it went down. Kravitz’s representative, Carleen Donovan, said the claims were “untrue and incorrect.”
The speculation grew after a post attributed to Florida pilot Emily Shelton said she planned to take Kravitz from Austin to the Bahamas. The post described a journey on a similar route, but Shelton was not piloting the aircraft that crashed. She also publicly said she had no connection to the crash and urged people to stop spreading the false claim.
All nine people aboard the Learjet 60 died. Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was identified as a co-pilot; the other passengers’ identities had not been released. The crash left debris and a crater near a roadway, but authorities said no one on the ground was hurt. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis described the crash as “cataclysmic.”
A team from the Federal Aviation Administration will assist the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation. The cause of the crash has not been established. Learjet manufacturer Bombardier said it would support investigators and declined to comment on a possible cause before the inquiry is complete.
