Carville Predicts Democrats Will Win Both Chambers of Congress
James Carville said on MS NOW’s The Beat on November 2 that Democrats were likely to take control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections scheduled for November 3. Host Ari Melber asked him to clarify whether he was making that prediction; Carville said he was, while noting he was not very good at predicting outcomes.
Carville argued that the war with Iran could expose corruption, adding that there was much the public did not yet know. He described the election as centered on corruption as well as the economy, saying the two issues were connected in voters’ minds.
To support his forecast, Carville pointed to Democrats’ performance in previous elections since Donald Trump was elected president, saying they had exceeded expectations by about eight to 10 points. He said he saw no reason that pattern would not continue, and predicted it would bring Democrats opportunities to uncover more information.
Carville also discussed Senate contests, saying a 50-50 split seemed less likely than the races breaking toward one party. He described South Carolina and Mississippi as highly competitive and said he expected the Louisiana Senate race to be close. The results of the November 3 elections will determine whether Democrats gain control of either chamber.
Carville Sees Democratic Wins as Voters Focus on Corruption
James Carville’s election-eve forecast was clear: Democrats are positioned to win the House and Senate in the November 3 midterms. On MS NOW’s The Beat on November 2, the veteran Democratic strategist said corruption was at the center of the contest, alongside the economy.
Carville argued that voters connect corruption and economic concerns, and said the war with Iran could bring more corruption into view. He warned there was much the public did not yet know, and said Democratic control could lead to further revelations.
His case also rested on Democrats exceeding expectations by roughly eight to 10 points in elections since Donald Trump was elected president. Carville said he saw no reason that pattern would stop, and predicted it would yield opportunities for Democrats.
He pointed to competitive Senate races in South Carolina and Mississippi and said Louisiana could come down to the wire. The election will test whether voters’ concerns translate into the congressional gains Carville expects.
Carville Bets on Midterm Upset as Democrats Target Congress
James Carville used the eve of the November 3 midterms to make a sweeping prediction: Democrats will win both chambers of Congress. On MS NOW’s The Beat on November 2, he acknowledged he was not especially good at forecasting, but said he believed the outcome was likely.
Carville framed the election around corruption and the economy, arguing that voters link the two. He also said the war with Iran could expose corruption and that there was much still unknown. His forecast places those concerns at the center of a contest that will decide control of Congress.
To bolster his call, Carville cited Democratic overperformance of about eight to 10 points in elections since Trump was elected president. He said he expected that trend to continue. His prediction is a confident bet on a shift in both chambers, not simply a close Senate contest.
Carville named South Carolina and Mississippi as highly competitive Senate races and said Louisiana could be decided narrowly. The November 3 results will show whether his forecast of a Democratic takeover is borne out.
