Sirianni Sticks With McKee After Eagles’ Sixth Straight Loss
Philadelphia’s losing streak reached six games with a Sunday night defeat against the Washington Commanders. The Eagles began the season 2-0 but have since fallen to the bottom of the NFC East standings, with their postseason chances fading.
Despite the slump, coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that the team would not change quarterbacks. McKee, a third-year backup, has started three games since Jalen Hurts was ruled out for the rest of the season after imaging revealed blood clots in his lungs. Sirianni said McKee would continue as the team’s starter.
Philadelphia’s other rostered quarterbacks are Joe Milton and rookie Cole Payton, a fifth-round pick. Bringing in a more experienced option would require the Eagles to seek a quarterback from outside the organization. The team may instead consider selling players before the approaching trade deadline.
The Eagles’ next game could influence that decision. They host the New York Giants on November 8, with a chance to take a game from the division leader. Philadelphia will try to end its losing streak in that Week 9 matchup.
