Packers Expect Josh Jacobs to Remain on the Roster
LaFleur said Green Bay would let the NFL complete its process and expects Jacobs to remain with the team. Asked whether his support for the running back had changed, the coach declined to discuss it, saying the matter would play out before the team moved forward. The Packers are due to play the Patriots on Sunday.
Jacobs pleaded no contest on September 10 to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges arising from a May incident involving his then-girlfriend. He was arrested after she told police he had thrown her to the ground. Police records released on October 30 included accounts from three other women describing alleged incidents in 2021 and 2022. The NFL has said it is reviewing those allegations.
Jacobs’ lawyers have denied the newer claims, saying their client has evidence to challenge them and that one woman’s earlier complaint to the league did not result in action. Jacobs sat out the season’s opening six games while on the commissioner’s exempt list, then returned for Green Bay’s last two games. He scored three touchdowns across those appearances, including two in a win over Carolina. LaFleur said the team would continue to let the league’s review proceed.
