Mckenna Grace Says She Turns Down Nude Roles
Mckenna Grace said she is not taking roles that require nudity or highly sexual scenes, explaining that the prospect frightens her. She made the comments in an interview with Cosmopolitan while promoting The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
“I respect anybody who can, but it’s terrifying to me,” Grace said. She added that she does not know whether her view will change, and noted that avoiding sexual scenes does not mean she only chooses gentle material: in Scream 7, her character is killed by Ghostface. Grace said she hopes to play a Disney princess one day.
The actress also discussed how her working life has changed since she was a child performer. She said she now appreciates being able to share opinions about her roles and propose ideas to producers, giving her more influence over the characters she plays.
Grace stars as Maysilee Donner in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, which will debut in cinemas on November 20. She described taking on the part as daunting, saying it mattered to her to do justice to a character and franchise she cares about. She also said the positive response to her casting helped ease some of the pressure.
Grace is also set to appear in Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo series as Daphne. Her comments come amid other actors’ public discussion of boundaries around sex scenes; Amanda Seyfried recently said she had passed on a role that would have involved frequent sex scenes because she felt uncomfortable with them.
