Timberlake Plans Janet Jackson Super Bowl Docuseries

Justin Timberlake is preparing a four-part docuseries for Apple TV, expected to arrive in December, with Janet Jackson set to appear and discuss the pair’s 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. The series has been described as a tell-all, though further details have not been made public. Representatives for Timberlake, Jackson and Apple did not provide comment in response to requests.

The performance drew widespread attention after Timberlake tore away part of Jackson’s top during the show. Jackson apologized the following day, saying the planned costume reveal went further than intended and that the incident had gone wrong. The Federal Communications Commission opened an investigation after receiving more than 500,000 complaints.

Jackson faced consequences in the aftermath, including pressure to step away from her role as a presenter at the 2004 Grammy Awards. Her music videos and singles were also kept off MTV after action by CBS chief Les Moonves.

Timberlake publicly apologized to Jackson in 2021, saying he had benefited from a system that tolerated misogyny and racism. In a documentary about her life that aired the following year, Jackson said she and Timberlake had forgiven each other and remained close friends. Timberlake appeared in that documentary.

The upcoming series is another project in Timberlake’s relationship with Apple, which dates to his role in the 2021 film Palmer. He has kept a relatively low public profile since completing his global tour in July 2025.
