Trump Urges Republicans to Block Democrats in Midterms
Trump used an appearance near the Reflecting Pool to encourage voters to support Republicans, calling the upcoming midterms among the most important elections of his lifetime. He also discussed his efforts to improve the pool and showed before-and-after photographs of the site.
He warned that Democrats had nominated candidates he described as dangerous extremists. Trump said their agenda included looser border controls, higher taxes, gun restrictions, changes to energy policy and allowing more migrants into the country. He argued that voters would decide whether those candidates gained power and pointed to what he described as accomplishments of his second term.
Trump also criticized Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, invoking claims about remarks made at mosques where El-Sayed had sought support. Trump said the United States should not be led by people who described it as the “House of Satan.”
He separately accused Democrats of trying to confuse voters in Alaska by recruiting a second candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. Mary Peltola’s campaign has denied involvement. The Justice Department is investigating the circumstances of the second candidate’s run.
After his speech, Trump repeated his accusations on social media, calling for Peltola and the second Sullivan to face consequences. He has made 29 stops around the country in recent weeks as part of his midterm push.
Trump Turns Midterm Rally Into Broadside Against Democrats
Trump used a speech near the Reflecting Pool to cast the midterms as a choice between his party and what he called a dangerous Democratic slate. His sweeping charges—from taxes and border policy to guns and energy—put partisan attacks at the center of his appeal to voters.
He also invoked claims about Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and remarks at mosques where El-Sayed had sought support, saying the country should not be led by people who called it the “House of Satan.” The remarks made a candidate’s alleged associations part of Trump’s case against Democrats.
In Alaska, Trump accused Democrats of trying to confuse voters by recruiting another Dan Sullivan to run against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. Peltola’s campaign has denied involvement, and federal officials are examining how the second candidate came to run. Trump nevertheless called for Peltola and the candidate to face consequences in a social media post.
The speech offered voters a stark partisan warning rather than a narrow account of the issues at stake. Trump presented Democrats as an existential danger while using disputed allegations about individual candidates to reinforce his case for Republican control.
Trump Warns Voters Democrats Would Empower Extremists
Trump made the midterms the centerpiece of his remarks near the Reflecting Pool, urging voters to deny Democrats power. He said their candidates would pursue policies involving borders, taxes, guns and energy that he considers dangerous, and framed the election as a decision over the country’s direction.
He reinforced that warning by criticizing Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over claims concerning remarks at mosques where El-Sayed had sought support. Trump said voters should reject candidates associated with describing the United States as the “House of Satan.”
Trump also spotlighted the Alaska dispute over a second candidate named Dan Sullivan running against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. He accused Democrats of attempting to confuse voters. Peltola’s campaign has denied involvement, while the Justice Department is investigating how the second candidacy came about.
In a social media post after the speech, Trump escalated his criticism, calling for Peltola and the second Sullivan to face consequences. His message was that voters should treat the election as a direct test of whether Democrats gain power, not as a routine contest.
