Suki Waterhouse reflects on heartbreak and life with Robert Pattinson

Waterhouse discussed her past relationships in an interview published October 31. She did not name Bradley Cooper, whom she dated from 2013 to 2015, but said relationships lasting two years had ended badly before she met Pattinson. She described going into relationships when younger without understanding the consequences of having them play out publicly.

After a breakup, Waterhouse said, she spent time alone at home and began to feel that modeling was stifling. She recalled feeling depressed and wanting a way out, and said she redirected those feelings into songwriting. In a 2024 interview, she had also described the difficulty of facing public attention while struggling privately.

Waterhouse, 34, has been with Pattinson since they met in 2018. The couple welcomed a daughter in 2024 and are engaged. She said she is surprised by how happy she is with him and has learned that a person can maintain both a public and a private life. Their wedding plans are paused while they focus on work, though Waterhouse has said she would like a large celebration. She also said Pattinson takes her songs about past heartbreak with humor.
