Bowers fuels Raiders comeback to end four-game skid

Las Vegas overturned a nine-point halftime deficit to beat New York 38-33, with tight end Brock Bowers playing a central role. His two touchdown catches helped Kirk Cousins and the Raiders put together the scoring drives that turned the game around.

Bowers opened the scoring for Las Vegas with a 12-yard reception in the first quarter. After the Jets moved ahead, he caught a two-yard touchdown pass in the third. He finished with seven receptions for 92 yards, leading the Raiders in receiving.

The performance extended Bowers’ streak of reaching 70 receiving yards or more in all six of his opening games this season, a first for an NFL player at his position. He missed the first two games with a meniscus injury.

Cousins threw three touchdown passes, including a fourth-quarter score to Jalen Nailor. That made Cousins the third quarterback in Raiders franchise history to reach 20 touchdown passes through the first eight games of a season. Matt Gay’s 53-yard field goal in the final 31 seconds set the final margin.

After the game, Cousins likened Bowers’ ability to make catches against tight coverage to what he experienced with Justin Jefferson in Minnesota. Las Vegas’ win came as the November 10 NFL trade deadline approached.
