Austell Shooting Investigation Uncovers Drugs and Cash
Police were called to an Austell home at about 1 a.m. on October 31 for a shooting. Officers located a man suffering a bullet injury in his abdomen and took his wife into custody as the suspected shooter. Paramedics brought the man to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators secured a warrant allowing them to inspect the property. They said they found a gun believed to have been used in the shooting, in excess of 300 grams of cocaine thought to be illicit, marijuana believed to be illicit and upwards of $34,000 in cash.
Authorities have yet to identify either the man or the woman, or detail the charges the woman may face. They also have not said what led to the shooting or identified the home’s exact location. The investigation follows a call for help at the residence and the subsequent search, which uncovered the suspected drugs and cash.
