Newlywed Prattville Police Corporal Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Dakota Davis, a 25-year-old corporal with the Prattville Police Department, was killed in a motorcycle crash on an Autauga County highway on October 26. He was off duty. The crash came about two and a half weeks after he married Chloe Greiner-Davis.

His wife said motorcycles had been a passion of Davis’s since childhood, though she had been upset when he got one. She and his father described the wreck as a freak accident and said no one was to blame. Greiner-Davis said she was still waiting for him to come home.

Davis’s father, Paul Davis, remembered him as a man who chose his words carefully, loved his family and enjoyed playing sports. His wife described him as someone who found purpose in serving and protecting the public as a police officer.

The family was preparing for his funeral on Halloween, a holiday Davis particularly liked. Greiner-Davis said she is coping with mortgage payments and moving expenses while continuing her studies toward a master’s degree in elementary education. Community members have raised thousands of dollars to support the family.
