Four Charged After Addison Gaming Cafe Burglary and Police Chase

Five people allegedly broke into Maria’s Gaming Cafe in Addison at about 4:30 a.m. on October 29, using sledgehammers and a crowbar to smash gaming machines and take cash boxes. The stolen cash totaled $13,847, and the business sustained more than $100,000 in damage.

Police investigating a series of gaming-business burglaries spotted a stolen Dodge Durango and a stolen BMW before the break-in. The vehicles fled after the burglary. Officers deployed tire-deflation devices, bringing the BMW to a halt, and three people from that car got into the Durango.

The Durango then fled from police, reaching speeds above 100 mph. Officers deployed spike strips again, and eight occupants ran from the vehicle, crossing the Eisenhower Expressway into a Bellwood neighborhood. A search involving K-9 units and a drone led to the arrests of Daryl Nesbit, Kyronte McCondichie, Keonte Adams and Dajuan Johnson.

The four men face charges including armed violence, burglary, possessing a stolen motor vehicle, damaging property and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Officers recovered three guns, a sledgehammer and a cash box from the Durango, along with a pair of guns and a sledgehammer from the BMW. One firearm was described as an AK-style weapon; another had a device that could make it fully automatic.

A DuPage County judge ordered all four held in jail while awaiting trial. Their next court appearance is set for November 23.
