Villa Park Man Accused of Three Meth Sales to Undercover Officer
Peter Thomas faces three felony counts of delivering methamphetamine and a felony count of possessing the drug with intent to deliver. He is also charged with misdemeanor resisting a police officer and possessing cannabis while driving.
Prosecutors say officers from Elmhurst and Chicago viewed Thomas as a probable methamphetamine supplier in DuPage County. An undercover officer allegedly bought about 4.26 grams from him for $40 on Sept. 1 at a business on West First Street in Elmhurst. The officer then allegedly made purchases of 3.27 grams on Sept. 30 and 7.33 grams on Oct. 28 at Thomas’s Villa Park home.
After the Oct. 28 transaction, officers arrested Thomas as he left a vehicle at the Elmhurst business. Authorities said they found about 29.48 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
A judge denied prosecutors’ request to hold Thomas before trial. He was released with conditions that include avoiding alcohol, cannabis and non-prescribed controlled substances, and submitting to testing. His next court date is Nov. 23.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin criticized drug dealers and credited local police agencies with the investigation. Elmhurst Police Chief Michael McLean also praised the departments’ cooperation and said their work helped protect the community from methamphetamine’s harms.
