Comcast to Cut 634 Jobs at Philadelphia Headquarters

Comcast has begun notifying employees whose positions are being eliminated at its Center City headquarters. The company’s notice to Pennsylvania regulators says the cuts will start taking effect December 31. Some affected workers may remain in their roles until December 31, 2027, while the company seeks to place employees in other openings or new positions. Workers who do not move to another role will be eligible for severance, the company said.

The positions span areas including engineering, product management, business analysis, construction, social media and information technology. Employees said the mood was strained inside the company’s two-building headquarters, and affected workers have posted online while seeking new opportunities.

Comcast says it plans to add about 500 positions at its Philadelphia corporate offices and more than 1,100 jobs across its U.S. campuses as it reorganizes. Executives have said the company is redesigning its structure to improve efficiency and execution, and plan to use AI agents to connect with customers.

The Philadelphia cuts are part of wider reductions, including 119 jobs in New Jersey and 159 in Washington. The changes come as Comcast also prepares to separate NBCUniversal’s entertainment businesses from the company’s broadband and wireless operations. That proposed separation requires regulatory approval, and the process is expected to extend into 2027.
