Voicemod Adds Star Wars Soundboards Under Disney License

Voicemod has added soundboards featuring audio from The Mandalorian and Grogu to its voice and sound-effects platform. The Disney licensing deal lets users share pre-existing quotes and sound effects while gaming, streaming or chatting on platforms such as Twitch and Discord. Marvel soundboards and additional Star Wars content are expected later.

The launch includes 20 audio clips. Users can buy the soundboards separately for $9.99, or for $7.99 with a Voicemod premium subscription. The clips are triggered through icons on the platform and are intended as reactions, rather than tools for changing a user’s voice to sound like a character.

Voicemod says it has 5.7 million monthly active users. Co-founder and CEO Jaime Bosch described the clips as a way to express emotions through audio, similar to using an emoji in text chat.

The deal adds to Disney’s licensing activity involving newer technologies. The company previously agreed to license selected characters for OpenAI’s Sora video platform as part of a proposed $1 billion investment, but the arrangement ended after OpenAI decided to shut Sora. Hasbro has also licensed character voices to ElevenLabs for use in advertising campaigns.
