Felony Charge Dropped Against Rick Ross in Miami Case
The felony charge against Rick Ross was dropped in Miami on October 30, about a month after his arrest. Prosecutors filed paperwork citing insufficient evidence for the battery-by-strangulation charge. Ross still faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence battery, court records show, and has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His attorney said he would continue to defend him against the allegations.
Ross, identified legally as William Roberts II, surrendered to Miami Beach police on October 1. He was released on bail several hours later. The case stems from an alleged incident at his Star Island residence on August 28, which was reported to police on September 29.
An arrest report says a woman who had been living with Ross told detectives he accused her of cheating and struck her repeatedly. She also claimed he used her shirt collar to choke her and shoved her against a wall. She said she left the home and later returned to collect her belongings after Ross had gone.
