Bills Face Mobile Ravens Offense in Week 8 Showdown

Buffalo enters the game after victories against the Los Angeles Rams and the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by a Week 7 bye. The Bills scored 197 points through six games, but turnovers by quarterback Josh Allen and running back James Cook have been a concern. Against Baltimore, they will need to protect the ball while sustaining an offense that has produced explosive plays at the league’s highest rate.

The Ravens’ offense has been markedly more productive on big plays with Jackson playing. In his 211 snaps this season, Baltimore had a 15.2% explosive-play rate; without him, the rate was 7.2%. Baltimore pass catcher Zay Flowers and ball carrier Derrick Henry have also been more productive alongside Jackson. He said Friday that his ankle still hurts when he plants his left foot, but that he intends to play without focusing on managing his movements.

Buffalo’s defense ranks near the bottom of the league in pressure and sack rates, while Jackson’s return could challenge a unit that has allowed frequent explosive plays. The Bills will need to contain the quarterback’s running threat, whether Jackson or Tyler Huntley plays, and take advantage of Baltimore’s reshuffled offensive line. Buffalo defensive lineman Deone Walker could be one player to watch inside; Ed Oliver is also set to return from a knee injury.

On offense, Buffalo may look to its previous meeting with Baltimore, when the Bills were productive from shotgun formations and with three wide receivers. Tight end Dalton Kincaid, the Bills’ leading receiver, is questionable with a chest injury. Baltimore has defended heavy formations and under-center plays effectively this season, which could shape Buffalo’s approach. The teams last met in Week 1 of 2025, when Buffalo won 41-40 on a Matt Prater field goal.
