Child Found Dead in Southwest Atlanta Townhome
Officers and Atlanta Fire Rescue personnel went to a townhome at 3500 Cardinal Drive, in Atlanta's southwest, at about 7:20 p.m. on October 26 to conduct a welfare check. Police entered the residence after receiving information during the check and found a child dead inside.
Emergency medical workers attempted to save the child, but those efforts were unsuccessful. Police have not said where in the home the child was found.
Investigators have yet to establish how the child died. The child’s identity and exact age had not been confirmed, and police were working to find family members who may be able to assist the investigation. Authorities said it was too early to determine whether the death involved foul play.
Homicide Commander Lt. Christapher Butler said investigators were still examining the circumstances surrounding the death. The investigation remained active as police worked at the scene.
