Trump Hosts Halloween Celebration With Air Force One Flyover

On October 29, the Trumps greeted children and families at the White House’s annual Halloween celebration. The event drew about 6,000 guests, including military, law enforcement, foster and adoptive families, as well as administration staff and their relatives. The president and first lady handed out full-sized chocolate bars and posed for photos with costumed visitors.

A harvest-moon display, pumpkins and squash decorated the South Lawn and White House entrance. The U.S. Air Force’s string musicians played Halloween-themed music while construction work continued on a new ballroom nearby. Guests included children dressed as founding fathers, dinosaurs and familiar fictional characters. One boy in a founding-father costume gave Trump a historic document to sign, and the president also signed two race-car drivers’ uniforms.

The new Air Force One, described as a gift from Qatari officials, passed over the grounds twice. Trump stopped to watch and point it out to children, then returned to greeting guests. He also danced briefly to the “Ghostbusters” theme. After roughly an hour, the couple went back inside. Organizers and participating groups provided candy, apples, coloring books, science kits and a pumpkin-themed photo opportunity.
