Brewers Claim First World Series Title in Franchise History

Milwaukee finished a dominant postseason with an 11-2 record, beating Tampa Bay in five games to clinch the title. The Brewers also overcame deficits to win six times in the playoffs, and scored eight runs with two outs in Game 3 of the World Series.

The team finished the regular season 96-45, including an 85-43 stretch after falling to 18-16 on May 4. Milwaukee’s run included contributions from stars such as Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio and William Contreras, as well as players who stepped into larger roles. Jake Bauers, named NLCS MVP after Milwaukee swept the Dodgers, and rookie Cooper Pratt were among those who delivered key hits.

In the clinching game, Jacob Misiorowski delivered a strong start, while Milwaukee built rallies with hits and sacrifice flies. The Brewers had dealt with injuries during the season, including time missed by Yelich and Chourio, and Brandon Woodruff returned to make the World Series roster.

The championship arrives as baseball turns to the offseason and a looming labor dispute. The current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire in less than five weeks, with owners expected to lock out players as the sides clash over a proposed salary cap. Milwaukee must also decide whether to bring back Bauers for 2027; Tampa Bay faces choices involving its rotation, including Freddy Peralta’s free agency and options for Drew Rasmussen and Nick Martinez.
