Matthew Golden’s Status Uncertain for Packers’ Panthers Game
Green Bay wide receiver Matthew Golden missed practice on Monday and Tuesday with shoulder and foot injuries, leaving his availability uncertain for the Packers’ October 29 game against the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field. He was hurt in Sunday’s loss to Detroit but returned to finish the game. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
Golden leads the Packers with 69 targets and has caught 36 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns this season. The second-year receiver has become a central part of Green Bay’s pass-heavy offense after receiving 44 targets as a rookie. He is averaging 15.8 PPR fantasy points per game and ranks ninth among wide receivers in that format.
Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur said the team was still working through Golden’s status, adding, “I sure hope so.” If Golden cannot play, Christian Watson could take on more of the receiving workload, with tight end Tucker Kraft and receiver Savion Williams also potential beneficiaries. Watson has 13 fewer targets than Golden.
The Packers are 4-3 and will be looking to respond to their Week 7 defeat by Detroit. Carolina’s defense has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers, at 21.9 per game, presenting a difficult matchup if Golden is available.
