Amari Allen Posts Alabama’s Fifth Men’s Basketball Triple-Double
Allen reached the milestone in Alabama’s victory over Arkansas State, finding Brandon Garrison for his 10th assist with just over six minutes remaining. He had already surpassed 10 points and 10 rebounds by then, finishing the game with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
The sophomore made an early impact, leading Alabama in points, rebounds and assists at halftime with 13, eight and six, respectively. He scored eight consecutive points and added four rebounds and three assists during a 14-0 Alabama run to close the first half.
The achievement was the fifth triple-double in the history of Alabama men’s basketball and the third under coach Nate Oats. Roy Rogers recorded two in 1996, both featuring blocks rather than assists. Kira Lewis Jr. followed in 2020, and Aaron Estrada posted the most recent one before Allen, in a 2024 win over Ole Miss.
Allen is the first Alabama player with a triple-double against an opponent outside conference play, and the first to achieve one in any month other than February. He returned to Alabama hoping to demonstrate to NBA teams that he can play guard. Allen and Oats were expected to offer comments after the contest.
