Greenfield Man Arrested in Moss Landing Beach Double Homicide
Donald William Breeden, 18, was arrested in connection with the November 2 shooting deaths of two boys near Jetty Road at Moss Landing State Beach, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said on November 6. The victims, Nathaniel Flores, 13, and Marco Antonio Perez, 15, were both from Salinas and died at the scene shortly before dawn on November 2.
Breeden faces two murder counts with criminal street gang enhancements. He was booked at the county detention facility, with bail set at $2.035 million.
The arrest followed searches on November 5 at properties in Greenfield and King City. At a home on Maple Avenue in Greenfield, authorities detained three people while carrying out a warrant. The sheriff’s office has not said whether Breeden was among them.
Two other people were wounded in the shooting and taken to a hospital. The investigation remains active, and detectives are continuing to examine what led to the gunfire. Sheriff Tina M. Nieto expressed gratitude to residents who shared information and asked anyone with relevant details to contact investigators.
