Miami Man Arrested After Body Found in Garbage Bin
Police and Miami Fire Rescue crews went to Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest 59th Street shortly after 11 p.m. on November 1 after a witness called to report a possible body inside a garbage bin. The witness told officers that four men on bicycles had urged him to check it. Responders found the man folded head-down in the bin and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police noted injuries around his left eye, along with facial blood.
Surveillance footage showed a person in a brightly visible shirt moving the bin along Northwest 59th Street before leaving on a moped, investigators said. Police found suspected blood droplets and wheel tracks near a home on Northwest 59th Street. After obtaining a search warrant, they found a fired bullet casing, what appeared to be blood marks on the living-room ceiling and indications that someone had cleaned a bedroom.
Officers later stopped Barbee on a moped nearby, wearing clothing matching the person in the footage, and took him in for questioning. Barbee told detectives he had visited the home to see a woman he knew as “Gang Gang.” He said an unknown man arrived asking for the victim, then entered the home to search for him. Police said the investigation and Barbee’s statements led to his arrest. He was held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center; his bond amount had yet to be determined.
