Love and Maye Lead Packers-Patriots Into New Quarterback Era
Green Bay’s Packers and New England’s Patriots meet in Foxborough on November 8, with Jordan Love and Drake Maye at quarterback. It is the first time in a long while the matchup will not feature Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Rodgers is playing in Pittsburgh, while Brady will work as a Fox Sports analyst at Gillette Stadium.
Love has thrown for an NFL-leading 2,246 yards and 16 touchdowns as Green Bay seeks a fourth consecutive playoff appearance. The Packers have won four of their past five games and rank second in the league with 15 takeaways. They are coming off a 27-19 win over Carolina, in which they recorded a season-high six sacks.
Green Bay’s rushing attack has struggled, averaging 60.6 yards per game and 2.9 per carry, both last in the NFL. Love said the team has found ways to make plays and score despite the run game’s shortcomings.
Maye has produced three or more touchdowns in all five of his most recent games, and New England won four of those contests. The Patriots beat Miami 24-19 last week and are seeking a 4-0 start at home. Maye called the matchup a chance to measure the team against a strong opponent.
The Packers have not won in New England since 2002. Green Bay leads the all-time series 7-6, and its most recent meeting with the Patriots was a 27-24 overtime victory in 2022. Sunday’s game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. Eastern on Fox.
