Dearborn Crash Kills Annapolis High School Junior

Dearborn police found the crash near Monroe and Beech streets at about 8:23 a.m. on November 5 while on patrol. The driver lost control, and the car struck a tree, according to the preliminary investigation. Police said speed may have contributed; witnesses also said the car had been moving quickly.

Dearborn Fire and Rescue took the driver to a local hospital, where the teen was pronounced dead. Police have not released the victim’s name. School officials said the student was a junior at Annapolis High School and took part in school activities.

Superintendent Mark Kleinhans said the district sent families information about resources for discussing grief and has offered support to students, staff and the student’s family. Students who need help can contact a staff member, he said. Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin offered condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones. The investigation is continuing.

Reported by CBS Detroit, FOX 2 Detroit.
