Driver Dies Three Days After Acworth Crash

The collision occurred at about 6:25 a.m. on October 26 at the intersection of Lake Acworth Drive and Kemp Ridge Road. Police said a Toyota Camry traveling north on Kemp Ridge Road entered the intersection without yielding to an eastbound Ford F-150, and the vehicles collided.

The impact also involved a Hyundai Elantra that had come to a halt in the westbound lane designated for left turns on Lake Acworth Drive. The Toyota and Hyundai drivers were not injured, police said.

Mathna, the Ford’s 58-year-old driver, initially declined medical treatment at the scene. He died on October 29 from injuries sustained in the collision. Police said he was from Dallas and that his next of kin had been notified.

The crash remains under investigation. Cobb County police are assisting Acworth police, and investigators have not determined the vehicles’ final resting positions. No charges have been announced. Anyone with information can contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
