Woman Dies After Brighton Park Roadside Shooting

The woman was shot in the head on October 22 while traveling in an automobile along the 2400 segment of West 47th Street. Chicago police said a gray car pulled alongside the vehicle at about 9:30 a.m., and someone inside fired at her before driving south on Western Avenue.

She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 5:17 a.m. on November 5, police said. Her spouse and two among their three children were present inside the vehicle, according to 15th Ward Ald. Raymond Lopez. No one else was injured.

Lopez said after the shooting that he believed road rage had sparked the attack. He also said the woman’s husband was helping police identify public and private surveillance cameras that might have recorded what happened.

Area 1 detectives are investigating the woman’s death as a homicide.
