Mr. Puffs Opens Its First U.S. Shop in Royal Oak

Mr. Puffs, a Canadian chain known for Greek-style doughnuts, has opened its first U.S. location at 31971 Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak. The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting on November 5, attended by members of Royal Oak’s business association, local firefighters and Corewell Health.

The chain’s signature “puffs” are loukoumades, small fried dough balls. They are served hot, with a crisp exterior and a soft interior, and are typically coated with honey and cinnamon; chopped walnuts are sometimes added.

Founder Pandelis Siounis started the business in 2004 with the aim of serving traditional Greek doughnuts. The brand has dozens of locations across Canada, particularly in the country’s eastern regions.

The Royal Oak shop also offers poutine, ice cream, coffee, tea and milkshakes. Its grand-opening activities are set to continue from Friday through Sunday, with additional offerings during the weekend.
