Rival Bros. Plans First Suburban Shop in Wayne

On November 3, 2026, Rival Bros. announced plans for its first suburban coffee shop, at Eagle Village Shops on Lancaster Avenue in Wayne. The 2,100-square-foot store is expected to open in spring 2027 and will be the company’s sixth location.

The shop is planned to include up to 50 indoor seats and 15 outdoor seats, with two separate seating areas. Rival Bros. is working with Stokes Architecture + Design on the space. Cofounder Jonathan Adams said it would have a more relaxed atmosphere than the company’s city shops, reflecting suburban customers’ interest in staying longer.

Adams said the move followed years of building the business in Philadelphia and noticing regular customers relocate to the suburbs after the pandemic. Chief Marketing Officer James Narog described Wayne as a community-oriented area with an established local business scene, and said the expansion could also help the company grow its retail and wholesale presence in the Main Line and nearby suburbs.

Founded in 2011 by Adams and Damien Pileggi, Rival Bros. began as a roastery and mobile coffee truck. Its five current coffee shops are spread across Brewerytown, Rittenhouse, Olde Kensington, East Passyunk and Midtown Village. It additionally runs Enswell, a café and cocktail bar in Center City, and sells coffee online and wholesale.

Wayne already has several coffee shops and cafés, including two Starbucks. Adams said he was not concerned by the competition, citing lines at local cafés as a sign of strong demand. Rival Bros. previously sought to raise $4 million for expansion; Adams said much of that funding has supported warehouse capacity and a website redesign. Narog said the company is considering future growth while prioritizing the launch of its Wayne location.
