North Carolina Seeks Sharper Performance Against Wofford
North Carolina will host Wofford at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill on November 6, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern. The non-conference game will air on ACC Network, with radio coverage on 97.9 The Hill.
The Tar Heels opened their season with a win over Western Carolina, but struggled to find consistent offense and disappointed at both ends of the court. North Carolina made nine of its 30 three-point attempts in that game, and shooting and rebounding are key concerns ahead of the Wofford matchup.
Coach Michael Malone could adjust the lineup or rotation. Center Sayon Keita had difficulty making an impact against Western Carolina, particularly on the boards. Maximo Adams could receive more minutes, while playing Jarin Stevenson at center is another possibility that would reduce the team’s size.
North Carolina may also look to get Keita more involved in the post. His development is expected to take time, and the Tar Heels’ offense has relied heavily on their backcourt to create scoring opportunities.
North Carolina went 24-9 overall and 18-0 at home last season, shooting 47.1% from the field and 34.2% from three-point range. Wofford finished 19-13, including a 9-7 road record, and averaged 78.8 points per game. The Tar Heels will look for a more convincing showing against the Terriers after allowing Western Carolina to stay in contention through offensive lulls.
