New Jersey Ticket Wins Powerball Jackpot
A ticket in New Jersey won the Powerball jackpot in the November 4 drawing, matching the five white-ball numbers—15, 34, 41, 53 and 56—and the red Powerball, 21. The win ended a stretch without a jackpot winner since August 12, when a player in Illinois claimed a $1.04 billion prize.
The New Jersey ticket holder has a choice between an annuity paid over 29 years and a one-time cash payment. The jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next drawing, scheduled for Saturday.
No ticket won the Match 5 prizes of $2 million or $1 million in Wednesday’s drawing. The odds of winning the jackpot were about 1 in 292.2 million.
This jackpot run marked the first occasion that participants in the United Kingdom joined from its outset. Ticket sales there expanded in July, and proceeds from a lottery outside the United States contributed to the Powerball jackpot for the first time.
