Drexel Pauses Alcohol-Related and New-Member Events

Drexel University has temporarily halted undergraduate group activities where alcohol is present or new members are being inducted while it examines claims of sexual misconduct and hazing connected to two fraternities at the Philadelphia school. The university announced the additional measure on November 4, 2026.

The pause comes after Drexel placed Pi Kappa Phi and Lambda Chi Alpha on suspension. The university has not described the allegations in further detail in its statement.

Drexel said staff from Student Conduct, Civil Rights Compliance and Drexel Police are examining the claims and weighing what to do next. The university said its student conduct rules guide its response to claims of sexual misconduct and hazing, and it offers students support resources and several ways to report concerns, among them an anonymous tip line.

The university said it is committed to a safe learning environment and does not tolerate sexual misconduct or hazing. Its investigations remain ongoing.
