Drexel Suspends Two Fraternities During Misconduct Investigation

Drexel University has placed Pi Kappa Phi and Lambda Chi Alpha under interim suspension while it reviews reports of potential hazing and sexual misconduct. The university confirmed the suspensions on November 3 but did not provide details about the allegations or when they may have occurred.

During the interim suspensions, the fraternities cannot hold new-member activities or events involving alcohol. Drexel’s student behavior team, civil-rights compliance unit and campus law enforcement are conducting the review.

The university said it does not tolerate hazing or sexual misconduct and offers students support resources and ways to report possible disciplinary or civil-rights concerns through a confidential reporting service.

Lambda Chi Alpha said it received notice of its suspension on October 27 and is cooperating with Drexel’s review. Its national organization said it would not comment further to protect the investigation’s integrity. Pi Kappa Phi’s national representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The two fraternities are among 12 recognized at Drexel. The investigation is ongoing, and the university said the offices involved will determine appropriate next steps.
