Brown’s 30 points lift 76ers past Pistons
Brown’s block on Cade Cunningham with 37 seconds left helped the 76ers hold off a late Pistons rally. Detroit had moved within six points and could have cut the deficit to three, but Cunningham’s shot was stopped. Philadelphia won 112-106, avenging its only loss of the season and improving to 8-1, the Eastern Conference’s best record.
Joel Embiid had 26 points and 15 rebounds for Philadelphia, while LeBron James contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Tyrese Maxey, who had scored at least 26 points in each of his other games this season, was held to 19 on 5-for-16 shooting.
Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. Duncan Robinson scored 27 for the Pistons, who fell to 6-2 while remaining atop the Central Division.
James reached another career milestone in the second quarter, becoming the first NBA player to make 16,000 field goals. He also set up Adem Bona for a three-point play with a pass, and assisted another basket. Embiid received a technical foul late in the first half after a review of a pushing-and-shoving incident found he had instigated it.
Philadelphia next visits Cleveland on November 6. Detroit hosts the Los Angeles Lakers on November 8.
