Man and 11-Year-Old Injured in Warren Accidental Shooting
The shooting happened Wednesday evening at a residence along Berkshire Avenue, close to Ryan and 8 Mile roads. The man was cleaning a handgun when it went off, striking him in the hand, police said. The bullet then ricocheted off the floor and hit the boy in the leg.
The injured boy was described as the man’s 11-year-old relative; another account identified him as the man’s son. The man is 37. One account said he had been teaching the boy how to clean a gun, while police said he was cleaning the handgun for his sister.
An ambulance took both injured people to a local hospital. Both are likely to recover. Police continue to investigate; it was not clear whether the shooting would lead to charges.
