Godzilla Minus Zero Brings Ghidorah to U.S. Theaters

Published: November 4, 2026

Godzilla Minus Zero, Takashi Yamazaki’s follow-up to 2023’s Godzilla Minus One, is set to open in U.S. theaters on November 6. The story takes place in 1949, as Japan continues rebuilding and faces a new monster: King Ghidorah.

The returning Shikishima family is drawn into the crisis. Koichi, a former kamikaze pilot played by Ryunosuke Kamiki, is now married to Noriko, played by Minami Hamabe, and they are raising their young daughter, Akiko. The film’s plot also involves a plan to enlist Godzilla against Ghidorah, despite Godzilla’s apparent death in the previous movie.

The sequel runs 135 minutes and was made for IMAX. Its human drama includes a wrenching separation between Akiko and her parents, while its large-scale monster action culminates in a battle between Godzilla and Ghidorah. The cast also includes Hidetaka Yoshioka, Min Tanaka and Masami Nagasawa.

The film will initially be available only in theaters; no digital release date has been announced. A later streaming home has not been confirmed. GKIDS has a content distribution agreement with HBO Max, while Godzilla Minus One arrived on Netflix after its theatrical run, but the sequel’s eventual streaming destination remains unsettled.
