Man Arrested in San Francisco in Dana Point Killing

Authorities said deputies were called at about 10:30 a.m. on November 3 to a residence by Breakers Isle and Niguel Shores Drive in Dana Point. People checking on a friend found the resident dead. Officials said the white man, who was in his 70s, had suffered a gunshot wound days earlier.

Investigators relied on license-plate scanning systems to find the victim’s car in San Francisco. Orange County sheriff’s investigators worked with San Francisco police to find the vehicle.

Inside the car, officers found Cordell Dionte Studley, 32. Authorities said they recovered several items that could connect him to the killing, including a handgun, and arrested him on suspicion of involvement in the case.

Officials have not said whether Studley knew the victim. They have released no further details about the shooting.
