Wilder to Meet Undefeated Opetaia on Fury-Joshua Card

November 4, 2026

Deontay Wilder will face unbeaten Australian Jai Opetaia in a 12-round heavyweight bout on December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The fight is the co-main event on the card headlined by Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, which will stream worldwide on Netflix.

Opetaia, 31, is moving up from cruiserweight for his heavyweight debut. He has a 31-0 record, including 24 knockouts, and most recently stopped Noel Mikaelian in September after winning the inaugural Zuffa cruiserweight title in March.

Wilder, 41, has a record of 45 wins, four losses and one draw, with 43 knockouts. He held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020 and defended it 10 times. After losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, he has won twice, including a split-decision victory over Derek Chisora in April.

The matchup was confirmed by Zuffa Boxing chief Dana White and Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh. White highlighted the fighters’ combined 67 knockouts. Wilder is listed at 6-foot-7, while Opetaia is 6-foot-2.

The Fury-Joshua event was moved from New York’s Madison Square Garden to Cardiff following a legal dispute. Its timing is intended to suit a US prime-time audience, with the main-event ringwalks expected in the early hours of December 12 local time.
