Davison Expected to Miss Oregon’s Ohio State Game

Davison was hurt during Oregon’s 34-26 win over Northwestern and left the game in the first quarter. He later watched from the sidelines in street clothes and on crutches. The sophomore has 439 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 91 carries this season, making him Oregon’s leading rusher. His injury is considered week-to-week and is not expected to be long-term, coach Dan Lanning said Monday. Oregon’s official injury report was due Wednesday at 5 p.m. Pacific time.

The Ducks may also be without running back Dierre Hill Jr., who was banged up against Northwestern. Hill has 399 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season. His availability for the matchup with the No. 12 Buckeyes remains in question.

Freshman Brandon Smith could take on a larger role. He ran for 82 yards and a touchdown against Northwestern, while veteran Da’Juan “Dink” Riggs also contributed. Lanning praised the younger players for handling additional opportunities during the game.

Oregon, ranked No. 23, is also playing without its first-string quarterback, Dante Moore, sidelined by an injury that ended his season earlier this year. Dylan Raiola is directing the offense. The Ducks will need their remaining backfield options against Ohio State as they pursue a road win with postseason stakes for both teams.
