Red Wings Rally Late but Fall 4-2 to Lightning

Detroit fell behind 2-0 in the first period, with Brayden Point scoring twice for Tampa Bay. The Lightning outshot the Red Wings 13-2 in the opening period, and Gibson left the game after stopping 11 of 13 shots. He was sidelined for the rest of the contest because of a lower-body injury.

Daniil Tarasov took over in goal for Detroit, playing for the second night in a row. Tampa Bay extended its lead to 3-0 in the second period through Anthony Cirelli before Lucas Raymond scored for the Red Wings at 10:23.

J.T. Compher brought Detroit within one with a power-play goal at 5:29 of the third period. The Red Wings could not find an equalizer, and Ryan McDonagh scored into Detroit’s unguarded goal with a second left, sealing Tampa Bay’s 4-2 win.

The defeat ended Detroit’s momentum after a 5-3 win over Florida on November 2 and left the team with a 7-6-3 record. Tampa Bay improved to 9-3-2 and remained unbeaten at home, with a 7-0-0 record. Detroit is scheduled to return home on November 5 to face the Vegas Golden Knights.
