Wild Pull Away From Flyers After Referee Deflection

Minnesota scored twice in a 31-second span in the first period. Matt Boldy opened the scoring off a pass from Quinn Hughes, then Michael McCarron made it 2-0 after a puck deflected off Porter Martone’s skate and reached him in front of Flyers goalie Dan Vladar.

The key play came early in the second. Philadelphia defenseman Jamie Drysdale’s attempt to clear the puck struck referee Kyle Rehman, leading to a two-on-one for Minnesota. Boldy set up Eriksson Ek, who beat Vladar to extend the lead to 3-0.

Flyers forward Trevor Zegras shouted at Rehman and received a 10-minute misconduct. Philadelphia later cut the deficit to one with goals from Tyson Foerster and Denver Barkey, the latter on a power play. Danila Yurov sealed the 4-2 win with an empty-net goal.

Jesper Wallstedt stopped 23 shots for Minnesota, which extended its point streak to six games, with a 5-0-1 record over that stretch. The Wild have won five straight road games. Minnesota’s trio of Kirill Kaprizov, Eriksson Ek and Boldy has yet to be on the rink for an opponent’s goal through the first 17 games of the season.

The Wild return home to play San Jose on November 6. Philadelphia starts a five-game road trip against the New York Rangers on November 5.
