Avila Chevalier Wins New York’s 13th District
Darializa Avila Chevalier has won the election to represent New York’s 13th Congressional District in the U.S. House. The Democrat’s victory came as Bronx voters also reelected Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the 14th District and Ritchie Torres in the 15th District on November 3.
Unofficial city Board of Elections results, after at least 95% of scanners had submitted counts by 11 p.m., showed Avila Chevalier with 111,263 votes, or 71.87%. Republican Manual (Jomo) Williams had 17,610 votes, or 11.45%.
The 13th District includes Upper Manhattan and parts of the West Bronx. The results were part of a wider election ballot in which Bronx voters considered congressional contests as well as races for statewide, state Senate and state Assembly offices. The figures for the congressional races were unofficial as of the stated reporting time.

Democrat Darializa Avila Chevalier won New York’s 13th Congressional District by a wide margin, with unofficial results showing 71.87% of the vote. Republican Manual (Jomo) Williams received 11.45%, or 17,610 votes, underscoring the challenge for Republicans in this Bronx-area contest.
The figures available late on November 3 showed 111,263 votes for Avila Chevalier, with more than 95% of scanners reporting by 11 p.m. The result was part of a slate of Bronx congressional races in which Democrats also won the 14th and 15th Districts: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was reelected, and Ritchie Torres won another term.
The 13th District spans northern Manhattan and sections of the western Bronx. The vote totals were unofficial, and voters across the borough were also deciding statewide and state legislative races. The Republican result highlights how little support Williams drew in the reported count, even as the contest formed part of a broader election in which candidates from both parties appeared on the ballot.
