Chris Rock Says He Quit Porn After Marriage Struggles

Rock said he was not a good husband and that he watched a great deal of pornography during his marriage to Compton-Rock. He said he stopped watching it five or six years ago. The couple married in 1996 and have two daughters; their marriage ended after nearly two decades.

Rock has also spoken publicly about being unfaithful during the relationship. Looking back, he said he was not kind and did not listen, and described his actions as a painful lesson that left him humbled. He previously discussed the marriage and his infidelity in his 2018 Netflix comedy special, Tamborine.

He said the separation took time to recover from and that he returned to touring, sometimes undertaking two tours, while putting his life back together. Rock also described going to therapy when his personal life was not where he wanted it to be, saying he entered an appointment in tears.

The interview also touched on Rock’s career and the 2022 Academy Awards incident, when Will Smith slapped him onstage. Rock said he wants people to focus on his creative work rather than that episode. He is writing and hopes to direct more films; he said he may perform stand-up again if he feels he can distinguish himself.
