Blumhouse and Atomic Monster Adopt Blumhouse Atomic Name

The merged horror production companies led by Jason Blum and James Wan will operate under the umbrella name Blumhouse Atomic. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will remain distinct labels, each with its own creative team developing film and television projects.

Blum and Wan joined their companies in 2024. Since then, their productions have earned more than $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office, with combined production spending below $330 million. Films released in 2026 brought in nearly $1.3 billion on budgets totaling under $70 million, led by Obsession and Backrooms.

Blum said the new name reflects the growth of the partnership, which he said combines studio-scale output with the creative latitude and cost discipline of an independent company. He also pointed to plans to extend stories into television, games and live experiences. Wan said the company wants to back emerging filmmakers and help sustain their careers beyond a single project.

The company has hired Sam Zimmerman to oversee development and acquisitions, with a focus on genre films budgeted below $5 million. It also has a first-look agreement with Divide/Conquer for lower-cost genre projects. Blumhouse Atomic has regained rights to Saw, with Wan producing a new installment, and is developing new Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch films.

Among its 2027 releases are Seasons, Sleepover, Blair Witch, Molepeople, Paranormal Activity, Anything But Ghosts, The Exorcist: Martyrs, The Revenge of La Llorona and River. Its broader activities include television, a game based on Grave Seasons, a Paranormal Activity Broadway production and Universal Halloween Horror Nights collaborations.
